Architect rendering of the Williams Wharf Landing Project site
The Williams Wharf Landing project was established in order to revitalize a historic maritime destination and hub of commercial activity thereby offering the community and its visitors a public outlet for all waterfront environmentally friendly activities. Phase I of this project is complete and the adjacent property has been purchased for the construction of the most integral and visible phase of this project: The Williams Wharf Boathouse Center.
This multilevel building, approximately 16,000 square feet in size, will provide much-needed storage space for boats of all sizes, room for boat repair and maintenance, locker rooms, a full kitchen for events and banquets, extra office space, a great room for any type of event or training session necessary, and a tiered wraparound deck for easy viewing of the river for regattas as well as other future events and happenings on the water.

Site plan assessment, architectural design, environmental permitting and marine engineering have begun thanks to a generous donation from a local foundation. The MLC has obtained sponsorship from several organizations and foundations for the completion of this facility over a period of three years. During this 3-year program, it is the responsibility of the Land Conservancy to raise approximately $715,000 of the estimated project total of $1.7 million. A capital campaign has begun to insure finalization of the Williams Wharf Landing Project, a jewel of Mathews County.
